*CAUTION- THIS IS NOT AN EXCITING BLOG, IT IS FOR DOCUMENTATION PURPOSES ONLY, AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR MY LONG-TERM/INTERMEDIATE MEMORY. BUT IT DOES GET COOL AT THE END...*
Friday came home very tired and zonked out during "Spaceballs." Saturday ran some errands, went home, then met Yvonne for ice cream. Strickland's is pretty hott, good fresh ice cream and they hooked it up because it was closing time. Then Justin, Dave, Rob and the roomies played some Beer-a-mid and I got sorta tired/drunk and passed out. Saturday morning woke up and went to lab with Yvonne to inject some ratones. Then copped out of a workout, came home and hung out with Andy and Luis. Went to Ikea, Home Depot, etc. The weekend was over. Monday was cool, woke up late and went to comp USA on the clock to pick up the lab's new printer. Realized I ordered the wrong one and that the correct one was $700. Got the boss to pay for it, bought it and left. Headed to Bolsa/Mag for Banh Mi and other assorted Viet goodies. Had lunch with the lab, then had lunch #2 with Yvonne. Realized I had a USC interview the next day. came home, ironed my new dress shirt (poorly) then crashed. Woke up at 5:00 bright and early, got on the road at 5:40. Arrived at USC Med campus (near the lovely communities of Boyle Heights and South Central LA) at 7:00. Walked around, got tea at the University Hospital (swanky) and finally went up to the anesthesiology dept. Straight up OR floor, with suites, scrub rooms, prep and post op areas. waited for the chief of anesthesiology (my interviewer) for 20 mins. He comes by and escorts me to his office. He's been supervising his residents in 4 different OR's. They keep calling his phone and announcing his name on the intercom so we can't talk much. He throws me a set of scrubs and says, "here, put these on, we'll talk in the OR." HOTT. I get it all on, cap, mask, booties and all, and he leads me into an operating suite. There's a 450 lb woman on the table, intubated, eyes taped shut, on her way to a gastric bypass. the Dr. puts me 3 feet from her head, between the anestesia machine/monitoring equipment and the drug cart. Way hott. They can't get an IV in because she's too obese. For 20 minutes he explains the anesthesia process and all the beeping gadgets and the cool little bellow that pumps air into the lungs. Then he proceedes to QUIZ me on all the peaks of the EKG and what they represent. My memory came through for once and I aced his little quiz. Then we went back to his office for a few questions, which he asked lazily and pondered each response for 10 full seconds before saying more. sorta weird, but he seemed to enjoy my answers. Not the best sense of humor, those anesthesiologists.... Student interview was alright too, she was also antisocial and seemed intimidated by ME (should be the opposite...). Tha campus: pretty decent. Tha curriculum: STELLAR, I LOVED IT. Tha people: big class, everyone seemed really happy. Tha lunch: INSANE. We ate in thei version of the Niversity Club except nicer. Lunch on plates, bread baskets, servants to pur more water, the whole 9 yards. I was sold. Left at 1:00 (FAST!) got my new glasses, ate some mom food, came home and crashed. Now it is time for...
THE OC!
